While the children are still intrigued with base 2, and have already converted many base 10 numbers to base 2, I give them a challenge to “think like a computer.”
With this follow up activity, they translate base 10 numbers to base 2 for each column and section. Rather than writing a 1 or a 0, they either leave the square blank to represent 0, or shade it to represent 1. The result is a pixelated graphic image!
